The classes are taught during Periods 1-2 by Pierce College professors on Taft’s campus. These classes are part of the IGETC. The Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) is a series of courses that California community college students can complete to satisfy most freshman/sophomore-level general education requirements before transferring to a UC or a CSU.
When you are successful in these courses, you will graduate high school with 48 transferable college credits without having to pass an AP test. This makes you almost a JUNIOR in college!
You will also take Taft classes that can be at any level you need or want: general education, Honors, or AP. It is up to you how much you want to challenge yourself and what your strengths and areas of growth are.
You will be in a cohort (with the same classmates) for 2-3 classes a day with built-in study groups for all 4 years of high school.*If interested, fill out the Special Programs form on tafths.lausd.org in the News and Announcements section. You can also email Mrs. Godsey at [email protected] for information or questions.
*HIPP seniors have been accepted into CSUs, UCs, private colleges, and out of state universities.
