Principal’s Message, Vision, & Mission

Hello Taft Toreadors,

It is with immense pride, gratitude, and a deep sense of humility that I introduce myself as the new Principal at Taft Charter High School. Having had the privilege of serving this remarkable community as a math teacher, Magnet/SAS/GATE coordinator, and administrator for the past 28 years, I am honored to serve this community in this new capacity.

Taft CHS has always stood for more than academic excellence. It represents a spirit of resilience, unity, and diversity. I have been privileged to witness the passion of our educators, the curiosity of our students, and the unwavering support of our families and community partners. These relationships have shaped my career, and they will guide every decision I make as your principal.

My vision is to create a learning environment where every student feels valued, challenged, and inspired. Together, we will build on Taft’s proud legacy while embracing innovation and growth. I am dedicated to fostering a school environment where students not only succeed academically but also develop into thoughtful, compassionate, and empowered individuals.

I’m deeply honored to serve as your principal and look forward to building meaningful connections with each of you. Together, we’ll continue to make Taft CHS a school we’re all proud to call home.  Once a Toreador, always a Toreador!

With gratitude and enthusiasm,

Yun J. Yu
Principal
