The Humanitas Interdisciplinary Pierce Program (HIPP) is a special program for students who want to take free college classes during the school day that count for both high school and college credit. Students get a "taste of college" in a safe high school setting.

The classes are taught by Pierce College professors on Taft’s campus. Periods 1-2 will be 9th grade classes, and Period 1 alternating days for the 10th-12th grade classes. These classes are part of the IGETC. The Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) is a series of courses that California community college students can complete to satisfy most freshman/sophomore-level general education requirements before transferring to a UC or a CSU.

When you are successful in these courses, you will graduate high school with 48 transferable college credits without having to pass an AP test. This makes you almost a JUNIOR in college!

You will also take Taft classes at any level you need or want: general education, Honors, or AP. It is up to you how much you want to challenge yourself and your strengths and areas of growth.

You will be in a cohort (with the same classmates) for 2-3 classes a day with built-in study groups for all four years of high school.
